Why is India not getting a permanent seat in the UN Security Council know the reasons

United Nations Security Council: The first world war started in the year 1914. Which ended in the year 1918. The world saw a lot of devastation due to war, so to prevent further wars, an organization named League of Nations was formed in the year 1929. But this organization was of no use and the Second World War started in 1939. Which lasted till 1945. After this the United Nations was formed.

This organization was created for peace, economic development, human rights and social progress at the international level. There are 193 countries in the United Nations. There are five permanent members in the United Nations Security Council. India has been trying to become a permanent member of the Security Council for a long time. But not getting success. Let us know what is the reason behind this.

What is UN Security Council?

The United Nations Security Council is said to be the most important part of the United Nations. It is responsible for maintaining peace and security at the international level. The United Nations Security Council can impose international sanctions on any country and can take military action against any country. If the UN Security Council issues any proposal then it has to convince the rest of the UN countries. There are a total of 15 member countries in the United Nations Security Council i.e. UNSC. In which there are 5 permanent countries. So the same 10 keep joining temporarily.

Permanent members of the UN Security Council

When the United Nations was formed. Then five permanent members were made in its Security Council. Which includes Russia, United States, France, United Kingdom and China. These five countries are those countries which fought together in the Second World War and won. All these countries have veto power. Under which it can stop any decision of the United Nations.

Why is India not getting a place?

In fact, there has been a demand for making India a permanent member of the UN Security Council for a long time. Other countries have also supported this on many occasions. But China, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, is becoming an obstacle in India’s path. China has veto power. Whenever there is a demand to make India a permanent member, China stops the demand.

Many people have other arguments regarding this. He says that India has still not signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty i.e. Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has also refused to sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty i.e. CTBT. This is also a reason.

So some people believe that not only India but many other countries are also standing in line to get a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council. Which includes Brazil, Japan and Germany. Therefore, till now it has not been decided whether to give place to India or not.
